Life has other plans
The search for the “impossible”
Within three weeks, we fell completely in love with Portugal. The feeling was so strong that we decided to leave the Netherlands behind and emigrate. We settled in Lagos, but as we started building our new life, our search for a home felt impossible.
For three years, we looked for a place that offered space and silence, yet was close to the coast and the city. It seemed nowhere to be found.
9 months of renovating
The beginning of Casa Moondi
Then, everything changed. We found this land in a very unexpected and special way. The moment we stepped onto it, we just knew: this is where we belong.
We rolled up our sleeves and spent nine intensive months renovating. We poured all our love, energy, and a new vision into the land. First transforming our own home, and then creating The Lodge.

We are Paul, Debby, our four year old daughter Fay-linn and our dog Kayla. We loved our life in Amsterdam, but the desire for nature and outdoor living pulled us away from the city. On the first of January 2023, we drove into Portugal with an open mind. Our plan was to stay for four months to find a piece of land and see if we could combine our life in the Netherlands with something new here.

Casa Moondi is more than just a place to stay. It is our everyday home. When you visit you will experience our relaxed family vibe. You might see our daughter playing or our sweet dog Kayla walking around the land. We feel incredibly lucky to live in this beautiful place. And the best part is that we now get to share our dream with you.
