General Terms & Conditions of Stay

Casa Moondi & The Lodge — Lagos · Algarve · Portugal

✦ ✦ ✦

1. About us

Casa Moondi is our estate (nature retreat) in the Algarve, located in Lagos, Portugal. The Lodge is the guest accommodation on this estate, which we rent out to our guests. We — the owners — also live on the estate, in our own house.

These terms and conditions apply to every stay in The Lodge and to the use of the Casa Moondi estate. By confirming the booking, the guest agrees to these terms and conditions.

2. Privacy and shared use of the estate

The Lodge is your private accommodation during your stay. No one enters The Lodge without your permission, except in emergencies or by prior arrangement (for example, for maintenance).

As we live on the estate ourselves, our guests may regularly encounter us on the grounds. We also use the garden, the swimming pool and the shared outdoor areas. We respect your peace and privacy, and ask the same of you in return.

Our private home and adjoining enclosed areas are not accessible to guests, unless expressly invited.

3. Arrival and departure

Check-in: from 15:00.
Check-out: by 10:00 at the latest.

Different times are possible upon request and subject to availability. On arrival, you will receive a short orientation and information about The Lodge and the estate.

Casa Moondi has an electric gate. Guests will receive a link that can be used to open the gate. This link is only valid during the stay.

4. House rules

We ask guests to treat The Lodge, the estate, nature and the surrounding area with respect. The Lodge is a quiet place, intended for relaxation and restoration.

  • No parties or events without our prior written consent.
  • We observe a natural night-time rest: from 22:00 onwards, please be mindful of noise.
  • Smoking is not permitted inside The Lodge. Smoking is allowed outside on the terrace, provided cigarette butts are disposed of in the ashtray provided.
  • BBQ with open fire or charcoal is prohibited.
  • Pets are only allowed upon request and with prior approval.
  • Only the agreed number of persons may stay overnight in The Lodge.
  • We provide a few small trash bins on purpose, as Casa Moondi is located in a natural and architectural area where animals can easily be attracted by waste. Please empty the bins regularly. Once a bin is full, you can easily dispose of the trash at the location shown on the map provided on site.

5. Sound and music

We love a peaceful atmosphere on the estate. Music or sound on the terrace is permitted, provided it remains respectful to us, other guests and the neighbours. From 22:00 onwards, we ask that sound be kept indoors or at a low volume.

Casa Moondi is located in a natural environment. Although it is generally very quiet, we cannot influence sounds from outside the estate, such as sounds from neighbours, animals (dogs, donkeys, sheep, roosters), agricultural activities, traffic, church bells, or seasonal events in the surrounding area.

We are not liable or responsible for external sounds originating outside our estate. A stay at Casa Moondi also means accepting that nature and the surroundings have their own sounds.

6. Swimming pool, garden and shared outdoor areas

The swimming pool and the garden are shared between ourselves and our guests. There is no supervisor or lifeguard present. Use of the swimming pool is entirely at your own risk.

Children may only use the pool under the direct and continuous supervision of their parents or guardians. We accept no responsibility for accidents, injury or damage resulting from the use of the swimming pool or the garden.

We ask guests to treat the natural environment of the estate with care: do not damage plants, do not leave any waste behind, and stay on the paths where available.

7. Use of the estate at your own risk

The Casa Moondi estate has a natural character with uneven paths, level differences, steps, stones, plants and animals. We have arranged the estate to the best of our ability for safe use, but it remains a natural and rural environment.

Use of the estate, the garden, the swimming pool, terraces, paths and all outdoor areas is entirely at your own risk. We are not liable for injury, falls, loss or damage caused by the nature of the estate or by the guest's own actions.

8. Use of The Lodge at your own risk

Staying at and using all facilities in The Lodge (including but not limited to the kitchen, cooking equipment, bathroom, terrace and furniture) is at the guest's own risk.

The guest is responsible for the careful and safe use of all equipment and facilities provided. We accept no liability for injury, damage or loss arising from the use of The Lodge.

9. Damage and guest liability

The guest is liable for damage to The Lodge, the inventory, the estate or property belonging to us or third parties, caused by the guest, fellow travellers or visitors of the guest.

Damage must be reported to us as soon as possible. The cost of repair or replacement may be recovered from the guest, possibly via the security deposit.

We strongly recommend that guests take out their own travel and/or liability insurance prior to the start of the stay.

10. Energy and water

We ask guests to use energy and water consciously. Casa Moondi is located in a region where water is a scarce resource. Please switch off lights and air conditioning when The Lodge is not in use, and use tap water sparingly. The tap water is not suitable for drinking. Guests should always use bottled water for drinking.

11. Insurance

We do not provide travel or personal liability insurance for our guests. The guest is responsible for arranging suitable travel insurance, cancellation insurance and/or liability insurance.

12. Personal data and privacy

We process guests' personal data solely for the purpose of fulfilling the booking and meeting legal obligations. We comply with the European GDPR (RGPD/AVG).

Data is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

13. Complaints and feedback

Should anything not meet your expectations during your stay, we ask that you report this to us directly as soon as possible, so that we have the opportunity to resolve it. Complaints raised only after the stay can often no longer be addressed.

14. Force majeure

In the event of force majeure (such as natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, fire, power outages, government measures, pandemic or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control), we are not liable for damage or unmet expectations.

15. Changes to these terms and conditions

We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions. For existing bookings, the terms in force at the time of confirmation will apply.

16. Governing law

These terms and conditions and the rental agreement are governed exclusively by Portuguese law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Portugal.
